WA Consumer Files Class Action Against Credit Reporting Co. AppFolio
Last Updated on May 8, 2018
Leo v. AppFolio, Inc.
Filed: September 29, 2017 ◆§ 3:17-cv-05771
A consumer in Washington claims AppFolio systematically fails to accurately identify the sources of information contained in consumer reports.
Consumer reporting agency AppFolio, Inc. is staring down a proposed class action that claims the company refused to comply with the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and adopt procedures meant to ensure the utmost accuracy before it prepares credit reports. The lawsuit, filed in Washington, claims AppFolio “systematically” fails to clearly and accurately identify to consumers the sources of the public record information it includes in its reports and thus creates problems for consumers looking to correct erroneous information. Further still, the complaint claims AppFolio also refuses to disclose the identities of each individual, or “end user,” that has obtained a copy of a consumer’s credit report.
