Viking Client Services, Inc. has been named as the defendant in a proposed class action lawsuit that claims it violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by omitting required disclosures from communications with consumers. The plaintiff in the case says he received several voice messages on his phone wherein the defendant failed to identify itself as a debt collector attempting to collect a debt. On top of that, the messages allegedly contained no “meaningful identification” of the company’s legal name, leaving the plaintiff with no choice but to return the calls to determine who left the messages. The suit argues that the purposely ambiguous messages are meant to coerce consumers into calling the debt collector and providing it with their personal information.
