Florida
Transworld Systems Inc. is facing a proposed class action lawsuit filed by a Florida consumer who alleges the defendant violated both the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by placing robocalls to her cell phone regarding a debt she says she did not owe.
The plaintiff claims she received at least eight auto-dialed phone calls from the defendant that greeted her with a prerecorded message concerning a debt owed by someone else. According to the complaint, she informed the defendant on at least one occasion that she was not the party it was attempting to reach.
“[The plaintiff] never provided her cellular telephone number to [the defendant],” the complaint reads, adding that the two parties had also never engaged in “any business relationship” that would have warranted the calls.
