Thompson v. Transworld Systems Inc et al
Filed: November 23, 2018 ◆§ 2:18cv16401
A New Jersey consumer claims Transworld Systems sent a collection letter that misstated her debt dispute and validation rights.
Transworld Systems, Inc. is on the receiving end of a proposed class action filed by a New Jersey resident who claims the company sent her a collection letter that included a deceptive disclosure of her debt dispute and validation rights.
According to the suit, the plaintiff received a letter from the defendant in November 2017 regarding an obligation incurred to Massage Envy Woodbridge. The notice allegedly failed to indicate that a dispute must be made in writing. More specifically, the case argues that by stating “If you notify this office in writing…” at the beginning of the debt dispute disclosure, the letter falsely implied that a written communication was optional in an effective dispute.
