A class action lawsuit filed in California claims credit reporting institution TransUnion ran afoul of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
A class action lawsuit filed in California claims credit reporting institution TransUnion ran afoul of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) by providing the plaintiff with his free annual consumer report in audio form only and not in written form. The plaintiff claims he submitted a consumer report request to TransUnion by mail and received his report in the form of two audio CDs. Under the FCRA, it is only permissible to provide a consumer with an audio credit report if he or she has provided prior authorization.
The plaintiff says it would take roughly 116 minutes to listen to his entire audio-formatted credit report, which was comprised of 18 audio tracks on both CDs.
