Anderson v. Texas de Brazil (NY) Corporation et al
Filed: May 31, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-03263
Texas De Brazil (NY) Corporation and Texas De Brazil (Westchester) Corporation are facing claims that they violated the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
New York
Texas De Brazil (NY) Corporation and Texas De Brazil (Westchester) Corporation are facing claims that they violated the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 by failing to make their website accessible to the blind population. A blind individual in New York has filed a proposed class action against the restaurant companies, alleging that their website – texasdebrazil.com – contains various access barriers that inhibit blind people from being able to navigate the site using screen readers. The suit argues that the defendants have neglected to utilize available technology to grant all users equal access to the goods and services they offer. Among the available site modifications are alternate text; limiting the use of tables; appropriate headings and navigations links; and allowing the use of a keyboard rather than a mouse to perform functions, the complaint says.
