Pennsylvania
Santander Consumer USA, Inc. is facing a proposed class action lawsuit filed by a Pennsylvania consumer who claims the bank violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). According to the suit, the defendant repeatedly placed phone calls via an automated dialing system to the plaintiff’s cell phone in an attempt to collect an alleged debt that the plaintiff claims she did not owe. She says she informed the defendant on numerous occasions that she was not the owner of the debt and requested that the bank stop calling her. Nevertheless, the calls continued, according to the complaint, despite the plaintiff’s refusal to provide consent to receive them.
