New York
Tasman Credit Corp (Credit Corp Solutions, Inc.) is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit filed by a New York woman who says the defendant sent her a misleading collection letter. The notice, received on February 24, 2017, stated the plaintiff owed a certain amount of money “as of the date of this letter,” the case says. According to the suit, despite implying that the balance might increase at some point in the future, the letter allegedly failed to specifically state whether the amount would change in the future. The complaint argues that the ambiguity regarding the plaintiff’s balance is a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, which states that debt collectors are required to clearly convey the consumer’s amount of debt.
