Genesee Grande, LLC, the operating company of Syracuse's Park View Hotel, is the defendant in a proposed class action lawsuit filed on behalf of blind individuals.
Genesee Grande, LLC, the operating company of Syracuse’s Park View Hotel, is the defendant in a proposed class action lawsuit filed on behalf of blind individuals who attempted to use the website theparkviewhotel.com. The suit alleges violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act and various state laws, claiming that Park View Hotel’s website discriminates against blind individuals through its various access barriers. According to the complaint:
“These barriers are pervasive and include, but are not limited to: lack of alt-text on graphics, the lack of navigation links and the lack of adequate prompting and labeling; the denial of keyboard access; and the requirement that transactions be performed solely with a mouse.”
The suit argues that the website unfairly restricts the blind population from using their screen readers to complete transactions and enjoy all the goods and services Park View Hotel offers on its site.
