A proposed class action has been filed against Synchrony Bank alleging violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. The case claims the defendant used an automated telephone dialing system to place several unsolicited calls to the plaintiff’s cell phone attempting to collect on a debt the woman says she did not owe. According to the complaint, the plaintiff called the defendant back after each missed call, informed its representatives that she did not owe the alleged debt, and demanded that they stop calling her. Despite her requests, the suit alleges, the calls persisted until the plaintiff spoke with a supervisor and was promised that the bank would “look into the issue.”
