Sunrise Credit Services, Inc. is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit that alleges violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and California state law. According to the complaint, the plaintiff received a collection letter from the defendant on behalf of Comenity Bank that stated the following: “Account Balance: $431.32,” “Other Charges: $294.58,” and “Balance Due: $725.90”. The suit argues that the plaintiff’s creditor “does not impose any additional charges” on consumer accounts and that Sunrise was not authorized to collect the “Other Charges” listed in its letter.
