Leitner v. United Collection Bureau, Inc.
Filed: June 20, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-03727
A man has filed two lawsuits against United Collection Bureau, Inc. and Alltran Financial, LP, respectively, claiming they failed to properly identify themselves.
New York
A New York man has filed two separate lawsuits against United Collection Bureau, Inc. and Alltran Financial, LP, respectively, claiming the defendants failed to properly identify themselves and their purpose in messages left for consumers. The suits allege that debt collectors are required in consumer communications to specify that they are debt collectors attempting to collect on debts. The plaintiff says he received several phone messages from the defendants that failed to identify the callers and the purpose of the calls. According to the suit, this conduct is meant to tempt consumers to return the calls and provide personal information to the debt collector.
