Lakkard v. Universal Fidelity LP
Filed: June 5, 2017 ◆§ 2:17-cv-00797
A Wisconsin consumer claims in a proposed class action that defendant Universal Fidelity, LP broke federal debt collection laws.
A Wisconsin consumer claims in a proposed class action that defendant Universal Fidelity, LP broke federal debt collection laws when it allegedly sent collection notices “inconsistent” with Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) regulations. The plaintiff claims she received a collection notice that unlawfully asked for a “reason for dispute” should she choose to argue any portion of her balance. The lawsuit claims the FDCPA does not contain any provision requiring a consumer to explain to a debt collector his or her reason for disputing a debt.
