Coastal Wellness Centers, Inc. v. Progressive American Insurance Company
Filed: October 3, 2017 ◆§ 0:17-cv-61951-JEM
Progressive American Insurance Company has been named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed by a chiropractic business that claims it unlawfully reduced payments for treatments covered under consumers’ personal injury protection policies.
Progressive American Insurance Company has been named in one of three lawsuits filed by a chiropractic firm in the past month against insurance companies it claims are unlawfully reducing payments for treatments covered under consumers’ personal injury protection (PIP) policies. According to this suit, the plaintiff provided necessary services to a woman who had sustained injuries in an automobile accident, but it says it was only reimbursed for $45.58 of the $46.51 it claims Progressive was required to pay. The complaint argues that the defendant improperly applied a two percent reduction to the repayments that is only applicable to Medicare claims.
