Leyva v. Nissan North America, Inc.
Filed: September 11, 2017 ◆§ 5:17-cv-01870-FMO-SHK
A proposed class action has been filed against Nissan North America, Inc. alleging its 2012 to 2017 Sentra vehicles contain defective continuously variable transmissions.
A proposed class action has been filed against Nissan North America, Inc. alleging its 2012 to 2017 Sentra vehicles contain defective continuously variable transmissions (CVTs). The plaintiff in the case says he owns a 2015 Nissan Sentra that experienced transmission problems due to an inadequate cooling system. According to the complaint, the vehicles’ CVTs are “unreasonably sensitive” and can overheat, causing “shudders or vibrations” and even “catastrophic transmission failure.” The suit argues that the plaintiff and proposed class members would not have purchased their vehicles, or would have paid less for them, had Nissan adequately warned them of the potential CVT defect.
