A class action has been filed in Wisconsin against Stoneleigh Recovery Associates alleging that it overstepped its boundaries when it comes to the FDCPA.
A class action has been filed in Wisconsin against Stoneleigh Recovery Associates and Bureaus Investment Group Portfolio No. 15 (BIG15) alleging the agencies overstepped their boundaries when it comes to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). The case claims a debt collection letter sent to one plaintiff contained false and misleading language regarding a settlement offer that could be considered confusing to the “unsophisticated consumer.” Specifically, the letter contained language noting an offer “that will expire after 02/29/2016” even though it was mailed three days after the settlement offer expired.
