Steaks and Game, LLC is the defendant in a proposed class action filed by a blind New York man who claims the company’s website is unlawfully inaccessible to the blind population. Citing the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and various state laws, the 25-page complaint argues that the defendant should have implemented known technology to eliminate the various access barriers that hinder blind people from navigating the site using screen readers. The plaintiff claims that he was unable to purchase a steak from steaksandgame.com because of its lack of alternative text, inaccessible checkboxes, lack of navigation links, and requirement that transactions be performed using a mouse instead of a keyboard. The plaintiff seeks monetary damages and injunctive relief from the purported discrimination.
