Florida
South Florida Institute of Technology, Inc. finds itself as the defendant in a proposed class action lawsuit filed by a consumer who claims the school sent him unwanted telemarketing text messages.
According to the case, the defendant began sending unsolicited promotional texts to the plaintiff in November 2017 without first securing his prior express consent to be contacted. The man alleges that after receiving the initial automated text, he attempted three times in one day to opt out of further communications yet continued to receive additional messages.
“Defendant’s unsolicited text messages caused Plaintiff actual harm, including invasion of his privacy, aggravation, annoyance, intrusion on seclusion, trespass, and conversion,” the suit reads.
