Selip & Stylianou, LLP is the defendant in a proposed class action lawsuit that claims the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by failing to clearly communicate the amount of a consumer’s alleged debt. The plaintiff supposedly received a collection letter from the defendant that stated her “balance due,” but failed to mention that the balance was increasing due to accruing interest. The suit argues that the defendant failed to provide the plaintiff with all the information she needed to calculate how much she owed on any given day and therefore violated federal law.
