Class members must file a valid Ring settlement claim form online or by mail by May 22, 2025 to receive a Ring settlement payout.
Class members can submit a Ring settlement claim form online on this page or download a PDF claim form to print, complete and return by mail.
To file a Ring settlement claim form, covered individuals will need to provide the notice ID and confirmation code found in the personalized settlement notice issued to them via mail or email. If you do not have a notice ID and/or confirmation code, you can look up your login information by entering your first and last name and email address on this page.
According to the Ring settlement website, class members who purchased one covered Ring product will receive $3. Class members are eligible for a $6 payment if they purchased two covered products and the second item was bought and set up (including through a free trial or subscription) within 30 days of purchasing the first item.
Finally, class members can get $9 if they purchased three or more covered products and the other items were bought and set up (including through a free trial or subscription) within 30 days of purchasing the first item.
“If multiple Settlement Class Members reside in the same household, they will collectively receive a maximum of one Settlement Payment, but their purchases will be aggregated for determining the Settlement Payment amount,” the site says.
Ring settlement payouts will be sent sometime after the court decides whether to grant final approval to the deal and after any appeals are resolved. A final approval hearing is scheduled for July 11, 2025.
The initial Ring lawsuit was filed in November 2020 by two California consumers who claimed the defendant did not disclose at the time of purchase that their Ring devices would only capture live-feed video unless they paid for its basic protect plan. Per the case, the Ring protect plan cost an additional fee of $3 per month (or $30 per year) per device and afforded customers the ability to record video, take snapshots, or view, store and play back such video and still images—features the complaint argued are fundamental components of Ring doorbells and cameras.
