Red Wing Shoe Store is facing a lawsuit in which a customer alleges the company “recklessly” printed too many digits of his credit card number on his receipt.
Florida
Red Wing Shoe Store is facing a proposed class action lawsuit in which a customer alleges the company “recklessly” printed too many digits of his credit card number on his receipt, which put him at an increased risk for identity theft.
The lawsuit says the plaintiff was at the footwear chain’s Sunrise, Florida location when he was presented with a receipt that included the first six and last four digits of his credit card number, among other personal details, including his name and phone number. According to the case, the defendant’s conduct violated the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), which prohibit businesses from printing more than the last five digits of payment card numbers on receipts.
