Real Estate Sellers Corcoran Group Hit with ADA-Website Complaint
Last Updated on May 8, 2018
Matzura v. Corcoran.com, LLC et al.
Filed: August 10, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-06044
A New York man has filed a proposed class action against the Corcoran Group alleging the real estate company's website is not ADA compliant.
New York
A blind New York man alleges in a proposed class action that Corcoran.com, LLC and The Corcoran Group West Side, Inc.’s website unlawfully discriminates against Americans with Disabilities Act-protected internet users. The lawsuit alleges Corcoran.com is not equally accessible to blind and visually impaired consumers, and therefore discriminatory, due to its incompatibility with commonly used screen reading software. More specifically, the complaint argues the defendants' website—on which users can find information on sales office locations, hours of operation, or sales and rentals—is subject to ADA regulations because it is “heavily integrated” with the real estate company’s physical locations.
