Mey v. Protect America, Inc. et al
Filed: September 21, 2018 ◆§ 5:18cv161
Protect America and Wahab Global Communications are facing a lawsuit that takes issue with allegedly illegal telemarketing calls placed by the companies.
West Virginia
Protect America, Inc. (PAI) and Wahab Global Communications, LLC are facing a West Virginia woman’s proposed class action that takes issue with allegedly illegal telemarketing calls placed by the companies.
Home security company PAI contracted Wahab Global to generate sales leads, which were pursued via telemarketing calls, according to the complaint. The plaintiff, whose number is listed in the National Do Not Call Registry, alleges that in May 2018, Wahab Global placed an unauthorized, autodialed call to her cellphone on behalf of PAI.
During the call, the case continues, a Wahab Global representative made a sales pitch regarding home security, after which the plaintiff requested not to be contacted again. Three days later, however, the woman claims she was called by PAI in an effort to sell its alarm services. Both calls were placed without obtaining the plaintiff’s prior express written consent to receive telemarketing solicitations, the suit charges.
