Pennsylvania
Consumer Advocacy Center Inc., which does business as Premier Student Loan Center, is the defendant in a proposed class action that claims the company “harasses” consumers with automated telemarketing calls and text messages. The case alleges that the defendant has sent unsolicited text messages and made unsolicited phone calls to thousands of people nationwide to advertise its student loan services. The lawsuit further argues that the defendant failed to obtain the plaintiff’s consent prior to sending him advertisements, as mandated by the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
The plaintiff seeks compensation for the following alleged injuries: inconvenience, unwanted occupation of his time and mental energy, unwanted occupation of his cell phone, nuisance, trespass on his phone, and aggravation.
