Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC has been named in a proposed class action lawsuit that claims the debt collector failed to clearly communicate the amount of a New York man’s alleged debt. The defendant supposedly sent the plaintiff a collection letter regarding payment due for medical services. Despite specifying the total due, the letter failed to indicate whether the balance would increase due to interest, the suit says. As a result, the complaint argues, the man was misled as to “proper amount, character, and status of the debt.”
