The Porsche sunroof settlement covers all individuals and entities who purchased or leased a 2015-2023 model year Cayenne or Macan vehicle or a 2014-2023 model year Panamera vehicle equipped with a sunroof (i.e., the class vehicles), which was imported by Porsche Cars North America for sale or lease by an authorized Porsche dealer in the United States.
The official website for the Porsche settlement can be found at SunroofDrainSettlement.com.
Class members can file a claim form to receive reimbursement for certain repair and replacement costs they incurred as a result of the alleged sunroof defect prior to November 6, 2024.
Porsche settlement claim forms must be submitted by mail and postmarked by February 4, 2025.
A printable PDF version of the claim form, which can be mailed to the address provided in the document, can be found here.
According to the Porsche settlement website, a class member may submit one claim for reimbursement related to one covered repair. This includes costs associated with fixing or replacing a sunroof in a class vehicle that leaked or allowed liquid to enter the interior despite being fully closed, as long as the sunroof glass was undamaged. Additionally, the claim can cover the repair or replacement of the vehicle’s seats, carpet, floor mats, ceiling or electrical components if they were damaged due to such leakage.
Class members who submit a timely, valid claim form can receive payments to cover a percentage of the cost of a covered repair.
“In order to qualify for reimbursement, each settlement class member will be required to submit sufficient documentation showing proof of repair expense incurred prior to November 6, 2024 and a related affidavit, if required,” the site specifies.
Also as part of the settlement, Porsche has agreed to extend its new car limited warranty for class vehicles to cover a percentage of the cost of a covered repair performed by an authorized Porsche dealer. This coverage will be applicable for a period of up to six years or 80,000 miles, whichever comes first, starting from the vehicle’s initial in-service date.
Percentages for warranty coverage and reimbursement will be based on the age and mileage of the class vehicle at the time of said repair or replacement. You can check out the settlement site’s FAQ page for specifics about how these percentages will be calculated.
Finally, the Porsche sunroof leak settlement entitles each class member to get a free sunroof drain cleaning at an authorized Porsche dealer for a period of nine years or 90,000 miles from the class vehicle’s in-service date, whichever occurs first.
The deal received preliminary approval from the court in May 2024. The parties now await a hearing scheduled for March 27, 2025, at which the court will determine whether to grant final approval to the terms of the settlement.
“If the claim administrator determines your claim is valid, your reimbursement will be mailed to you after the settlement becomes final,” the site says.
The class action lawsuit was initially filed against Porsche in September 2022, and was later amended to allege that certain vehicles were manufactured with defective sunroof draining systems that caused water leaks and damage.
