A proposed class action has been filed against Persolve Legal Group, LLP over claims that the defendant falsely implied an attorney was involved in the collection of a woman’s purported debt. The lawsuit says that the law firm sent the plaintiff a collection notice using the firm’s letterhead, which, according to the complaint, falsely implied that an attorney had “meaningful involvement in the day-to-day collection of [the plaintiff’s] alleged debt.” The case claims the defendant intended to mislead the plaintiff into thinking the communication was from an attorney by failing to include in its letter a disclosure “concerning the lack of attorney involvement.”
