A class action filed in Florida against Pella claims the company’s Architect series windows come with an undetectable defect that allows water to leak behind their aluminum cladding, which could cause serious structural damage to consumers’ homes. The complaint claims Pella intentionally hid this design and manufacturing defect from consumers and, to cover itself, drafted a limited warranty that specifically failed to provide any protection for the product defect.
Worse, the complaint continues, the wood rot problem caused by the defect may not be visible to consumers upon inspection for years after the windows’ installation.
