Filed: April 6, 2017 ◆§ 6:17-cv-00608-GAP-GJK
Quinstreet, Inc., which does business as Insure.com, is facing a proposed class action that claims it illegally called consumers' cell phones without consent.
Quinstreet, Inc., which does business as insurance policy telemarketing company Insure.com, is facing a proposed class action that claims it called consumers’ cell phones without prior express consent. Alleging that Insure.com “casts its marketing net without regard to the law,” the complaint says the defendant placed the unwanted robocalls with a prohibited automatic dialing system that utilized a pre-recorded voice message.
The plaintiff, a Florida resident, claims the intrusive calls were placed using the “caller ID spoofing” tactic, where a telephone network indicates to the receiver of a call that its originator is someone other than the true caller. In this event, a consumer’s caller ID will allegedly display a phone number different than the one from which the call was placed.
