A proposed class action has been filed against Credit Control LLC by a New York woman who claims the debt collector misled her as to the amount of her alleged debt. According to the complaint, the plaintiff received a collection letter from the defendant informing her that her account balance “may vary from day to day” because of added “interest, late charges, and other charges.” The suit argues that the letter failed to mention, however, the information needed for the plaintiff to calculate the amount she actually owed, including the interest rate, date of accrual, nature of the other charges, and when any additional fees would be applied.
