Walters v. Sentry Credit, Inc.
Filed: December 15, 2017 ◆§ 1:17cv7305
Sentry Credit, Inc. is facing a proposed class action lawsuit alleging the debt collector failed to clearly state in a collection letter the amount of a consumer’s purported debt.
Sentry Credit, Inc. is facing a proposed class action lawsuit alleging the debt collector failed to clearly state in a collection letter the amount of a consumer’s purported debt. The plaintiff in the case says she received a letter from the defendant that specified the amount of interest she allegedly owed along with a “Current Interest Rate.” The suit argues that although the debt collector provided an interest rate, the use of the word “current” implies that the rate may change. The plaintiff, therefore, would be unsure as to how much she truly owed absent a disclosure assuring her that her total balance would remain static, the complaint claims.
