Filed: October 22, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-06149
Northstar Location Services, LLC is facing a proposed class action lawsuit alleging it sent a collection letter that failed to clearly communicate a consumer’s amount of debt.
New York
Northstar Location Services, LLC is facing a proposed class action lawsuit alleging it sent a collection letter that failed to comply with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act’s requirement that debt collectors clearly communicate a consumer’s amount of debt. The plaintiff says he received a collection notice from the defendant that set forth a “Balance” without explaining whether the amount was static. According to the suit, the plaintiff’s account with his original creditor was subject to interest, but the defendant’s supposed omission of any information regarding interest left him uncertain as to how much he truly owed.
