Client Services, Inc. is the defendant in a proposed class action lawsuit accusing it of violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by failing to clearly identify a consumer’s creditor. The plaintiff in the case, a New York man, says he received a letter from Client Services that stated “RE: CHASE BANK USA, N.A.” The suit argues that under the FDCPA, the defendant was required to identify the entity as the “original creditor,” “current creditor,” or “creditor to whom the debt is owed,” and failed to do so, leaving the plaintiff unsure as to whom he must make payments.
