New York
A New York business has filed three separate lawsuits against defendants Textbook Warehouse, LLC; School Safety Czar, Inc.; and Maximus, Inc., respectively. The suits allege that the defendants violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the New York General Business Law by sending unsolicited fax advertisements that did not contain required opt-out information. According to the complaint, the faxes illegally consumed the recipient’s time and resources, and failed to provide all the information needed to avoid future faxes. The suits each claim proposed class members are entitled to at least $2.5 million in damages and seek injunctive relief prohibiting such conduct in the future.
