New York
Northstar Location Services, LLC is the defendant in a proposed class action that claims it sent debt collection letters to consumers that failed to clearly state the amount of their alleged debts. The plaintiff supposedly received a letter from the defendant that included his “Balance” and a settlement offer. He claims, however, that the letter did not specify whether the balance would change due to interest or fees. Furthermore, the letter did not contain any information as to when the balance was calculated and the interest rate that may or may not be applied to it, according to the complaint. As a result, the plaintiff argues that he was unsure how much he would need to pay to settle the account.
