Quinn v. Northstar Locations Services, Llc
Filed: January 23, 2018 ◆§ 1:18cv487
Northstar Location Services, LLC is facing a proposed class action lawsuit alleging it failed to clearly communicate the amount of a consumer's alleged debt.
New York
Northstar Location Services, LLC is facing a proposed class action lawsuit alleging violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. The plaintiff, who filed the 20-page complaint in New York federal court, says she received a collection letter from the defendant that listed her “balance,” but failed to specify whether the amount was increasing “due to interest per the creditor’s contract.” The suit argues that the unsophisticated consumer would not be able to confidently submit a payment to satisfy the debt without knowing the interest rate, date of accrual, and other information that would allow him or her to calculate the true balance on any given day.
