A New York woman is the plaintiff in another FDCPA lawsuit, this time against Northland Group Inc. The proposed class action claims the debt collector misled the plaintiff by failing to clearly disclose the amount of her alleged debt in a collection letter it sent her. The letter supposedly contained an “account balance,” but did not indicate whether the balance would remain static or whether it was accruing interest. As a result, the plaintiff says she could not be sure as to the true amount of her debt. According to the suit, Northland Group’s debt collection practices “violated the FDCPA since they frustrate the consumer’s ability to intelligently choose his or her response.”
