The owner of a collagen distributor company headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada claims in a proposed class action lawsuit that United Parcel Service of America, Inc.—UPS—violated the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). Filed in Georgia court, the lawsuit claims the plaintiff’s business opened an account with UPS around 2012. Shortly after, the complaint continues, the plaintiff never went through with her company and subsequently closed her UPS account. The woman alleges UPS called her personal cell phone numerous times regarding this closed account. The case claims, upon information and belief, that UPS placed these calls to the plaintiff and proposed class members through an automatic telephone dialing system, a violation of the TCPA.
