Norton v. Nationwide Credit, Inc.
Filed: December 19, 2018 ◆§ 2:18-cv-01999
A Wisconsin consumer alleges that Nationwide Credit, Inc. misrepresented his American Express debt as accelerated.
A Wisconsin consumer has filed a proposed class action against Nationwide Credit, Inc. wherein he claims the collection agency misrepresented that his American Express debt had been accelerated.
According to the suit, the plaintiff received bank account statements in November and December 2017, as well as January 2018, that each indicated a total account balance and minimum payment due. The case alleges that in those same months, the defendant, however, sent letters that each listed the man’s entire account balance as due. By failing to state that the plaintiff had the option to make minimum payments, the letters misled the man as to his debt amount and the legal status of his account, the suit argues.
