According to the suit, the plaintiff received a letter from NRC stating: “This collection agency is licensed by the Division of Banking in the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions.” The complaint argues that the debt collector does not actually hold a Wisconsin Collection Agency License and that its implication of government approval is illegal under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
