Wisconsin
Nations Recovery Center, Inc. (NRC) is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit alleging that it falsely claimed it was licensed by the state of Wisconsin to collect debts. According to the suit, the plaintiff received a letter from NRC stating: “This collection agency is licensed by the Division of Banking in the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions.” The complaint argues that the debt collector does not actually hold a Wisconsin Collection Agency License and that its implication of government approval is illegal under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
