Mullen & Iannarone, P.C. is facing a proposed class action lawsuit filed over an allegedly misleading collection letter sent to a New York consumer. According to the case, the defendant sent the plaintiff a notice regarding a debt purportedly owed to Bethpage Federal Credit Union. The suit argues that the debt was subject to interest, but the letter supposedly failed to state that interest was accruing. By omitting this information, the lawsuit alleges, the defendant misrepresented the plaintiff’s debt in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
