Debt collector MRS BPO, LLC is the defendant in another proposed class action filed over alleged violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). The New York woman who filed the complaint alleges the defendant unlawfully failed to accurately state the amount of debt owed, namely if the obligation would increase due to accrued interest and/or fees. This conduct, the lawsuit argues, could lead the least sophisticated consumer to be unsure of how to satisfy the debt since he or she may mistakenly believe the balance listed may change.
