The debt collection class action carousel continues with a new proposed lawsuit alleging frequent defendant MRS BPO, LLC sent consumers deceptive collection notices. The plaintiff in the latest case, filed in New York, claims the defendant sent a collection notice likely to be misunderstood from the perspective of the least sophisticated consumer. The case, more specifically, alleges MRS BPO failed to clearly convey the name of the creditor to whom the plaintiff’s debt is owed, merely stating in the notice “RE: Verizon” without being clear on if the carrier is the account owner or creditor, or current creditor.
