Hakli et al v. Bal Harbour Tower Condominium Association
Filed: June 7, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-03431
Mercantile Adjustment Bureau, LLC is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit claiming its collection letters fail to comply with the FDCPA.
New York
Mercantile Adjustment Bureau, LLC is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit claiming its collection letters fail to comply with requirements set forth by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. The plaintiff alleges that he received a letter from the debt collector that stated his “current balance,” but neglected to indicate whether the balance was accruing interest, whether it was static, or whether interest would be waived. The suit argues that, as a result, the plaintiff was unable to determine the true amount of his alleged debt and could not be certain that any payments he made would settle his account and cease collection efforts.
