The 57-page data breach lawsuit relays that after TalentLaunch discovered suspicious activity on its network on May 31, 2023, a subsequent investigation determined that an unauthorized third party had gained access to certain files containing clients’ private data.
Per the suit, the sensitive information potentially exposed in the breach included at least names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, state ID and passport numbers, financial account details, digital signatures, health insurance and medical data, biometric information and mothers’ maiden names. TalentLaunch’s notice letter shares that this personal data was collected by the staffing and recruitment firm during clients’ employment application and placement processes at its subsidiary companies.

As the case tells it, the cyberattack stemmed from the company’s failure to monitor its computer network and implement reasonable data security protocols to secure the sensitive information in its care.
Moreover, although TalentLaunch purports to have detected the breach in May 2023, it did not begin to notify victims until early March of this year, approximately nine months later, the complaint points out.
The delayed notification meant that for months, impacted individuals had no idea their personal data had been exposed to cybercriminals and that they were—and continue to be—at substantial risk of fraud and identity theft thanks to TalentLaunch’s negligence, the filing alleges.
The lawsuit looks to represent anyone in the United States whose private information was accessed and/or acquired as a result of the TalentLaunch data breach, including those who were sent notice of the incident.
