According to the 19-page product recall lawsuit, Johnson Health Tech North America pulled 12,885 Matrix CXP-03, CXC-02, CXM-02, CXM-03 and CXV training cycles on January 30 due to an apparent defect that could cause the seat to unexpectedly lower while in use, posing a fall hazard to the rider. To date, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has received 63 reports of Matrix training cycle seats unexpectedly lowering, including two that said users fell off the cycle as a result, the case relays.
Proposed class members purchased the training cycles based on the defendant’s reputation as a quality company that produces reliable products, with the recalled training cycles, which reportedly retailed for between $2,530 and $7,305, advertised as having top technological features and fitted to each rider’s needs, the filing states.

Although the Matrix training cycle recall included a fix-and-repair clause requiring the company to repair and replace the faulty components for free, the initiative does not offer any guarantee that the apparent seat defect will be fixed for good, the case contends.
“Rather, the Recall mentions installing a repair kit, but mentions no testing or assurances that such repair kit will solve the issue fully,” the suit reads, claiming that, even with the recall, riders are burdened with devalued cycles.
According to the CPSC, recalled Matrix training cycles bear a serial number that contains the prefix FC32, ZFC32B, FC33, FC36, FC29D or FC27. The products have matte black steel frames, forged steel cranks, dual-sided SPD pedals, four leveling feet and two transport wheels.
The CPSC urges consumers to stop using the training cycles immediately and contact Johnson Health Tech North America to schedule a service technician to install a free repair kit.
The Matrix training cycle class action lawsuit looks to cover all consumers in the United States who bought a recalled Matrix-brand training cycle.
