American Express Company (AMEX) is facing a proposed class action lawsuit that claims it violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act by placing autodialed calls to a consumer’s cell phone without his consent. The plaintiff in the case says he has never been an AMEX customer but “has been bombarded” with the defendant’s allegedly illegal calls, despite his requests that the company stop calling him. He claims the defendant is attempting to contact someone else – an individual named “Jessica” that the plaintiff insists he does not know – and has not ceased its efforts even after being informed that it had the wrong number.
