A proposed class action lawsuit has been filed against Client Services, Inc. over claims that the debt collector sent a New York man a misleading collection letter. The letter allegedly stated the following:
“If we settle this debt with you for less than the full outstanding balance, Chase may offer you less favorable terms in the future for some Chase products or services, or may deny your application.”
The suit argues the defendant attempted to induce payment of the debt by falsely implying to the plaintiff that paying off his account in full will “enhance [his] likelihood of receiving future credit products from Chase Bank or improve [his] overall creditworthiness.”
