Illinois
Receivables Management Partners, LLC is facing a proposed class action lawsuit filed by an Illinois man who claims the defendant sent him an unclear collection letter that violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. According to the complaint, the letter stated a “Total Due” of $236.66 in two places, but also informed the plaintiff that the “amount” he owed his creditor, “Northshore Univ Healthsystem Medical,” equaled $30.34. Nowhere in the letter, the suit argues, did the defendant explain the difference between the two totals or to which entity the additional funds were allegedly owed.
