Escallate, LLC is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit filed by a Pennsylvania man who claims he received a letter from the debt collector enclosed in an envelope that displayed his protected debt information. According to the complaint, a window in the envelope exposed a barcode that, when scanned, would reveal the plaintiff’s account number. The suit argues that the plaintiff is protected under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act from having his personal information displayed to the public through the defendant’s debt collection attempts.
